I'm an American poker player? Can I play poker on my iPhone or iPad tablet?
No. Unfortunately there isn't a poker site that both accepts US players and provides a mobile poker version of their software.
US poker players have a couple of options.
- Find an app for free or a couple of bucks and play poker for fake money.
- Skip poker and play casino games instead. There are US friendly casinos that have iOS apps.
- Try to play real money poker using a remote desktop app.
The idea behind the remote desktop app is to control your desktop from your phone or laptop. However, I'm not sure how convenient this may or may not be. Additionally, playing poker this way might be difficult because the poker site won't be designed to fit properly on a mobile device. But it might be worth the couple of dollars and time to try it out. That's up to you.
Do I need an internet connection?
Yes. You will need either a WiFi or 3G / 4G connection. Keep in mind that if you're using someone else's WiFi that it might cost you money (in a hotel, for example), and if you're using 3G/4G that it will cost you in terms of data.
Can I play poker on my iPhone for real money?
Yes, so long as you're in a non-US country that can access a poker site with a mobile app. Sites to consider would include PokerStars, Party Poker or 888 Poker.
How do I get started?
Getting started is easy. Just follow these steps:
- Visit the poker site. Find their mobile page.
- Click their download link. The app will either download or take you to their page in your app store.

Absolutely not. You can play with fake money. In the case of paid apps from the app store, you won't have any choice -- all of those games are play money only.
Is playing from my iPhone / iPad safe?
Yeah, playing poker on your iPhone and iPad is safe. All poker sites (that we recommend) make sure that your connection and the data packets (with your hand information, personal details, etc) are encrypted. And some sites, like PokerStars, don't let you save your username and password to your phone. That way if your phone is lost you don't run the risk of someone having access to your account.
But poker operators can only do so much. So I recommend using RSA tokens when available, and changing your passwords frequently using a variety of numbers, letters and symbols.
Depending on the apps you're using, you might see an alert that says you need to enable Bluetooth before you can pair an accessory with Bluetooth. Go to Settings > Privacy and tap Bluetooth. Then turn on Bluetooth for the apps you want to use.

- On your device, go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn on Bluetooth. Stay on this screen until you complete the steps to pair your accessory.
- Place your accessory in discovery mode and wait for it to appear on your device. If you can't see it or aren't sure how to make it discoverable, check the instructions that came with your accessory or contact the manufacturer.
- To pair, tap your accessory name when it appears onscreen. You might need to enter the PIN or passkey. If you aren't sure what your PIN or passkey is, check the documentation for your accessory.
After you pair your accessory, you can use it with your device. To pair multiple Bluetooth accessories, repeat these steps. You can also learn how to switch audio sources for your device.

To unpair a Bluetooth accessory, tap Settings > Bluetooth, find the device you want to unpair, and tap the info button , then Forget this Device. This will remove the accessory from the list of available Bluetooth devices.
