Maryland slot machines were approved after they won 59 percent of the votes in the 2008 November elections.
Maryland will now proceed the development of five gaming facilities throughout the state.
According to The Regular Person’s Guide to the Maryland Slot Machine Referendum, these casinos will generate $660 million annually after they are fully implemented. The first casinos to open in Maryland, Casino at Ocean Downs and Hollywood Casino Perryville, all ready generated over $38 million.
While some fear potential business deficit from slot competition, other Maryland residents anticipate benefits transpired from the revenue and await the next casino opening in Arundel Mills.
